Hi there! Welcome and I'm glad you are here! I am Britt Jernigan, a wife and mom of 3 young kiddos. I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma but have deep roots in Tennessee (Go Big Orange!). I love summer and yard work, all the television, and all the dogs. I also really love photography!
Photography is both a new and old love for me. I took photography in high school (never mind that it was before the days of digital and we had an actual darkroom we developed our photos in) I loved photography then, but didn’t see anything past that classroom. Fast forward almost 10 years to the birth of my first child and me picking up a camera, again. I saw photography differently. It was a tool to preserve not only the way my kids looked, but how our lives were at that particular moment. My favorite images are the ones that make me feel what it was like to bring a newborn home, or remind me what my daughters favorite toy was at 2 years old, or my kids obsession with playing on the hill next to our house. Those are the moments I want to capture and preserve and what lead me to finding lifestyle photography.
Lifestyle photography for me is a mix between portrait and documentary. It's creating a moment to get an authentic connection and feeling to capture. That means I photograph twirling and jumping and laughing (maybe even some crying, because lets get serious) and all the things that make kids look like kids. We play silly games, make funny faces, and you get to have good old fashion quality time with your family while I snap away. It could be as simple as playing at your favorite park, baking cookies in the kitchen, kids playing in their rooms or running through a field. I am obsessed with creating images for families that they can keep and cherish forever.
